WEBINAR WORKSHOP

CASC OR CHARITABLE STATUS?

The majority of not for profit sports clubs could benefit significantly by becoming either a CASC (Community Amateur Sports Club) or a charity.

This two hour interactive workshop outlines the advantages and disadvantages of each of these schemes and provides examples of clubs that are currently benefitting.

In particular, the workshop details how either of these schemes enables a club to protect its non-member income and rental income from tax, benefit from rate relief, and how a club can significantly boost its income through use of the gift aid scheme.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Have a thorough understanding of CASC and charitable status which will enable them to determine how their club can benefit
  • Know the legal obligations and implications of registration and what is required to do so
  • Understand whether either CASC or charitable status has any impact on the club’s legal status
  • Know how the Gift Aid scheme works, including how to maximise gift aid in areas such as membership and sponsorship
